Partners in Prayer for the Japanese

July 2011

“Dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1
Please join us for our ‘Days of Prayer’ each Tuesday – (5th, 12th, 19th, 26th)

July 1st
– Tak san, a Japanese businessman, works long hours often not returning home until after 11:00 PM. He and his wife are very proud of his business accomplishments, but sense there’s something missing in their lives. Pray that they will reach out to Jesus to fill that void.

July 2nd – Yo san, a non-believer, meets weekly with a ladies Bible study at Higashi Kurume in West Tokyo. She is very faithful in her attendance, and has said she feels an unexplainable peace when she meets with the group. Pray that she will come to understand that Jesus is the source of that peace, and follow Him.

July 3rd – Please pray for S san, a west Tokyo pastor. He has recently, in faith, stepped down as pastor of a local church to devote his ministry to full-time church planting.

July 4th – Today through July 15th, Sharon P., South Tokyo team and two interns will be leading and teaching VBS for a group of Japanese children. In addition to sharing God’s love with the children, pray they will also connect with some of the moms in order to begin a new Mom’s Ministry or Bible study.

July 5th – Pray that the Japanese in the northwest area of Tokyo will be drawn to the Bae family as they transition to their new home environment and begin ministries.

July 6th – SK had been coming to several small group homeless Bible studies and a park worship and bread distribution. Recently he responded to invitations to trust in Christ. Follow up with the homeless is always a challenge as they move around. Pray that contact can be made with him again.

July 7th – Pray for two new laborers who are coming to work in Niigata this month as tentmakers. Pray for God to open doors for them into their community. Pray their needs will be supplied and that new churches will be started as they share Christ.

July 8th – Reaching families through their sons’ soccer leagues, the Bennetts ask for prayer to find open hearts and ears to the truths of the Gospel. Pray that this month would provide new opportunities to get together with families in their neighborhood also.

July 9th – While in Shibuya, Tokyo, business consultant T.S. talked with summer intern Keri who was doing 5-Minute English. He contacted her to meet again, so she and Mark H. shared the Good News of Christ. T.S. trusted in Jesus and was born again June 21st! He was baptized the following Sunday. Pray for T.S.’s faith to grow.

July 10th – Thank you for praying for the Japanese volunteers who came to Kyoto. They had good opportunities to share how God has worked in their lives. The Kyoto folks also had fun and wanted to meet again with Gloria. Some have already met again to practice origami and to cook.

July 11th – Continue to pray for the people of Tohoku as they struggle to find meaning in life after the earthquake and tsunami. Pray they will hear the Good News and find hope and meaning in a relationship with Christ. Then, thank God for the Christians from Japan and the States who have given financially and have worked alongside the Japanese in this affected area.

July 12th – DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING for the East Asian Peoples and Japan’s city of Hiroshima. Founded in the late 1500′s, Hiroshima “wide island” is built on a delta formed by the six estuarial rivers originating from the Ota River. This city of 1.2 million people is most famous as the first city to suffer attack by an atomic weapon. This attack has seared itself into the consciousness of every citizen. As a result, peace is deeply valued in Hiroshima. In addition to the Peace Memorial Park, the city has the Promenade of Peace, the Peace Boulevard, concerts for peace and many other peace themed events. At least one local university has added a major in Peace Studies. Pray for the citizens of this city to know the One who will end all wars, and that they will become ambassadors for His glory to this nation and the world.

July 13th – The Jordans joined a Tono City disaster relief team to clean houses. The team leader has contacts in the prefecture and said he would introduce Ed and Nan to the people in charge of disaster relief for the Deaf. Praise God for this opportunity!

July 14th – Mr. and Mrs. Ki are living in temporary housing provided for victims of the March tsunami. The Ki family has been befriended by a missionary couple who have visited them every week. As many other things and groups are competing for their attention, pray that the Holy Spirit will help them focus their attention on the Gospel they have heard so that they will come to trust Jesus.

July 15th – Mr. "Owl" closed his Owl Restaurant when he became ill with cancer. Pray that through his surgery in late June he will experience God’s healing, and in the process will see his need to know Jesus, the giver of abundant and eternal life.

July 16th – Pray for the Tokyo Metro Community businessmen’s seminar today. Ask God to bring believers and friends to hear how the Bible relates to their work and lives daily. Ask the Father to strengthen their faith through this time.

July 17th – The Chos are praising God for the eight ladies that came to a cooking class at their home. Volunteers from the States taught American cooking and seeds of the Gospel were planted in the hearts of the ladies. Pray with Yumi for these ladies, that they would become a great harvest of hearts for Christ.

July 18th – Kokubunji Baptist Church, a west Tokyo church, will be sending a team of its members to the Tohoku area today. This will be a two-week mission with the children of the area as their ministry focus. Pray that these men and women will have His wisdom as they minister to hurting families.

July 19th – Starting Bible studies, meeting friends for fun and fellowship and sharing Christ, volunteers, interns and missionaries saw hearts touched in Kobe during the month of June. Pray that God continues to open doors and provides more divine appointments and follow-up with these Japanese.

July 20th – H-san attended Catholic school and understands the Bible. But as the eldest in his Buddhist family, the pressure to maintain the family altar and pray to deceased relatives has kept him from seriously considering Christianity. Join the Rainers in Shizuoka as they pray that H-san would turn to the Light.

July 21st – Join the Parsleys in praying for their friends, N-san and his family, with whom Matt meets for conversation practice. Pray that N-san’s heart would readily accept the Truth as Matt boldly shares the Gospel with him and for the salvation of N-san’s entire household!

July 22nd – The 4 Texan volunteers blew through Nagoya! They distributed 4,400 tracts, 80 personal testimony cards and had 2 people come to a friendship party. Pray that those who received the tracts would contact the Loomises for more information and for the salvation of the 2 who came to the party.

July 23rd – Taka met a summer intern and journeyman at a local campus in Fukuoka. Pray that Taka will desire to know the Lord Jesus Christ as he continues to meet with Anson.

July 24th – F.A. has studied the Bible for two years. She seems to have faith, but won’t move toward full commitment. Pray she will experience unrest until she rests fully in Christ.

July 25th – A depressed friend reads the Bible together with a missionary in Fukuoka twice a month. Pray that God will give peace and healing to this friend.

July 26th – A teacher team opened the door for a Fukuoka team member to become an English language assistant for 6th grade at the nearby elementary school. Thank God for this opportunity, and ask for wisdom in the new relationships it has brought.

July 27th – Pray for the 27 Japanese men Matt in Hiroshima has met by joining a casual baseball team. Ask God to open ongoing connections with many of these men, including conversations about spiritual matters.

July 28th – Lima, Peru, where Tim and Joy live, is located in a desert. They are now working with about 50 young Nikkei (second generation Japanese) students at La Victoria School that have recently returned from Japan. Pray that each will meet the Living Water and have spiritual birth through the Word of God.

July 29th – “Christians really care about people,” was the common comment heard from the exercise class as the missionaries spoke about doing relief work in the tsunami area. Pray that the explanation about the One who cares for each of them, Jesus Christ, will sink deep into their hearts and they will come to know Him as Savior and Lord.

July 30th – As volunteers and missionaries have prayed earnestly for residents in the condominium where missionaries Liz and Barb live, God has opened doors for witness to the residents. Recently summer missionaries have held English classes for children there. Pray for many families as they hear the Gospel to have faith to believe in Christ.

July 31st – In the past you have prayed for witnessing opportunities in shopping arcades in Osaka. Doors have opened for missionaries to volunteer in events for children. Pray for God to give these small shop owners faith to believe in Christ as their Savior. Pray especially for the tofu shop, bedding shop, and pickles shop.

December Japan Partners in Prayer December 1, 2010

Filed under: Ministry — japaneseparsley @ 8:19 pm

“Jesus spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” (Luke 18:1)

Please join us for our ‘Days of Prayer’ each Tuesday – (7th, 14th, 21st, 28th)

December 1st – This month is a month of celebrations! The birth of Christ and a new year is just around the corner! Join us in praising God for the new lives in Christ. A quote from a new Christian, “This year has been the best year of my life, because I met Jesus!”

December 2nd – Unconfessed sin among key leaders of a new church start has been devastating. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will move among this group of Japanese believers in West Tokyo resulting in true repentance and reconciliation; and that collateral damage be minimal.

December 3rd – Mark asks that you pray for Y-kun, a second year university student, who has prayed to accept Christ but is beginning to doubt his prayer of faith. Pray for Y-kun’s assurance of salvation and to be obedient in baptism.

December 4th – Pray for Sonya’s friend, Sao-san, who understands and desires the Gospel but is overwhelmingly influenced by her family’s Shinto religious beliefs. In the coming weeks, she is traveling to New Zealand to study English. Pray that during this time she will meet other Christians who will encourage her to make a commitment to follow Jesus.

December 5th – A follow-up email sent to a summer contact over three months ago has recently been answered. Yu-san extended an invitation for Julia to visit her home for lunch and conversation. Pray that from this home visit, there will be an interest and desire to hear more truths of the Gospel.

December 6th – Pray for relationships to continue to grow and strengthen with a north Tokyo Baptist church and that a ministry partnership can be established with volunteers coming from the United States in April 2011.

December 7th – DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING for Kanazawa City, meaning “marsh of gold”, is said to derive its name from the legend of a peasant who was digging for potatoes, but instead discovered flakes of gold. Facing the East China Sea, the city of 450,000 people is located west of the Japan Alps. Many of their customs evolved from the practices of the citizens to overcome the severity of long, cold winters. This hearty, resourceful people pray at temples and shrines, but have never heard the Gospel. Today, less than 0.5 percent profess Christ as Savior and Lord. Pray for the people of Kanazawa to hear the Gospel and be saved becoming citizens of heaven whose streets are made of gold that is eternal.

December 8th – Olive and Nan shared Jesus with Mrs. Fields for three years. At the Franklin Graham Festival this October she believed on Jesus. After working through the booklet they received and watching the JSL Bible Translation and The Hope DVDs together, Mrs. Fields asked, “Can I give this to my friend now?” Pray for her faith to grow and for her husband to believe on Jesus.

December 9th – Praise the Lord for bringing Emiko to her home church in Missouri to share about the work that God continues to do in Chiba. Ask God to call out laborers from the American church to help. Pray that both churches will have an even greater vision to take the Gospel to all the people in Togane and Chiba.

December 10th – Since May 15th, different moms with toddlers and babies have joined once a month for Sunbeams, an English class with a Bible story and craft. At the Christmas party today, pray for the story of Jesus’ birth to touch the moms’ hearts so each family will soon become part of God’s Kingdom.

December 11th – December 11th – 21st is an awesome time to have a team come to Kobe to share the Gospel with the Japanese! A team from Tyrannus Baptist Church will be Christmas caroling, doing special Christmas 5-Minute English, distributing tracts and various other forms of outreach.

December 12th – Trying to live out his faith in Christ, Mr. Ki is finding it not only brings conflict with the ways of the world, but also gives him new eternal perspective. Pray that he will resist temptations to go back to his former way of life before he trusted in Jesus.

December 13th – As Cornelia reaches out in their apartment complex this month, pray for the Christmas caroling and the Christmas tea times. Pray that those who come will have open hearts and minds and a new Bible study time would begin from these outreach activities.

December 14th – The volunteer team of bankers who came last month met with young Japanese businessmen and spoke at one university. Pray that the seeds that were sown would grow and that their words of encouragement would give boldness to those believers in the marketplace so other businessmen and women in Tokyo can be reached.

December 15th – Recently, a major Buddhist university in Kyoto held a fall festival and the Gellerstedts met a student there who is open to meeting again. Pray that Bob can meet this student and a Christian witness can be established on this campus for the glory of the Lord.

December 16th – Mrs. Fu’s husband has been bedridden for 2 and 1/2 years after a severe stroke. Her sister-in-law died of cancer two months ago and her mother-in-law committed suicide last month. Mrs. Fu came to a Christian asking why God has made all of this happen to her. Pray that Mrs. Fu will come to believe that God loves her deeply.

December 17th – A new believer in Osaka seems to be avoiding telling anyone that she has become a believer. Pray for wisdom for those who are discipling her. Is it fear that is holding her back, or does she not yet understand Christ’s sacrifice for her salvation? Pray that God gives her a burden to lead others to faith in Jesus.

December 18th – Volunteers from Washington State will be hosting a Christmas dinner at a cafe in Osaka today. Those eating dinner at the cafe will sing Christmas Carols and hear the story of why Jesus Christ was born. Pray for the seeds that are planted to bear fruit. Pray especially for the owner of the cafe to become a believer.

December 19th – The Gierharts in Utsunomiya have come into contact with 7 very friendly ladies from the “international office.” Pray that these ladies will be open to build a trusting relationship with the Gierharts that will open their hearts to the Gospel message.

December 20th – Kana-san is a lively man who enjoys getting to know foreigners. Recently, he has expressed interest in spending more time with Kevin. As they spend time together please pray for Kana-san’s heart to be open to Jesus and for Kevin to know how to minister to him.

December 21st – Pray for Ms. Sa, a young office worker, who has shown interest in Christianity. She has read every Christian book given to her recently. Pray that she will soon come to know Jesus as her personal Savior.

December 22nd – We rejoice in the baptism of N-san in November in Takasaki! Pray that God will continue to grow her in the faith. Pray that the Father continues to use the joy in her life to draw her friends and family to the truth.

December 23rd – Mai and 4 friends sometimes join the Sengmanys for dinner. They enjoy singing gospel songs. Pray that they will want to know the Savior who is being praised when they sing.

December 24th – Pray for missionaries Wendy & Sharon as they share the true story of Christmas with a group of mothers and children today. The party will be held at K-san’s home in Komae, a city in south Tokyo. K-san is a new Christian and is looking for ways to share Christ with her friends.

December 25th – The Parsleys in Hamamatsu are displaying a lighted nativity in front of their house with free Christmas CDs and literature. Pray that this would spark conversations about the true meaning of Christmas and that many would hear the Gospel, be drawn to Christ and surrender to the Savior this Christmas.

December 26th – Romu has a broken heart. Pray that through his brokenness he will turn to God and ask Him for healing, forgiveness and salvation.

December 27th – J.K. and Chika faithfully study the New Testament weekly. J.K. also joins for learning from the Old Testament on another day of the week. Pray she will have courage to confess with her mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord.

December 28th – The Rainers in Shizuoka ask for prayer for a family they have witnessed to for over a year. They are open to hearing about Christ and have attended a fellowship with Japanese believers. Pray that they would be willing to study the Bible, so they might understand the Gospel message.

December 29th – As Hank & Linda Lee retire to the States this month, pray that God would build upon the foundations laid and finish the work He started in the hearts of the many Japanese their lives have touched throughout their last seven years in Nagoya and their 25 years in Japan.

December 30th – Pray for Mr. and Mrs. Ni who accepted Christ several years ago. Then, they read their Bible and prayed together each day, but now their faith has grown cold. As Em reached out to their son and he was saved this year, the mother’s faith was revived. Pray for this family to have worship together and reach out to their neighbors with the Gospel.

December 31st – Please pray for the Nikkei (second generation Japanese) believers in Peru that they will be able to share with their family and friends about their salvation in Jesus Christ. Pray that the Nikkei people will understand that God created the world and that He loves them.

Sapporo, Okayama/Kurashiki, Niigata, Shizuoka, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Matsuyama, Oita, Fukuyama, Kanazawa, Nagasaki, Yokosuka and Toyama… Do any of these cities ring a bell for you? Have you had or do you have a special connection with one or more of these unengaged cities? We are in desperate need of Priority Prayer Advocates for each of these important cities.

A Priority Prayer Advocate is someone who feels a sense of calling to the task of advocating for a priority focus city where the East Asia Peoples Affinity Group does not yet have workers and ongoing work. We are looking for those who will champion entire cities through prayer! Your commitment to pray regularly and fervently for the salvation of these cities and enlist others in the process will turn the tide in the battle to bring the Light of the World to Japan. Contact us if He has laid a city on your heart.

Thank you for praying faithfully for the salvation of the Japanese!

We appreciate you, and are encouraged by your partnership with us!

Happy Autumn! October 31, 2010

We can’t believe how fast this year is flying by – this has not been a Trolley-car-ride-in-San-Francisco-year… It has been a full-throttle-bullet-train-year.
With that said, the holidays are just around the corner, as are holiday ministries!

We are beginning to feel a part of our neighborhood and a true since of community. Our neighborhood’s 3rd annual Sport’s day was held this month. We participated in the three-legged race among several other events, and had a good time with several hundred neighbors.

November Prayer Requests
Please pray that the community will seek us out in times of Spiritual needs so we can point them to the Father.
Please be in prayer for us that we can share our Thankfulness with our friends and language teachers this month.
Please pray that through our testimonies, God would stir hearts and believers would be added our number.
Please pray for our language study… It has been tough at times, but 14 months down… but 22 months left to go! ;)
The Kids are doing quite well in school. Please pray our family will glorify God in all we do.

Partners in Prayer for the Japanese

November 2010

“Jesus spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” (Luke 18:1)

Please join us for our ‘Days of Prayer’ each Tuesday – (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th)

November 1st – An English conversation class is now meeting on Sunday afternoons at Nishikokubunji in west Tokyo. Pray that during these sessions, questions of faith will be asked and Martin and Julia will have opportunities to share the Gospel.

November 2nd – DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING for Fukuyama City, nicknamed the “Rose City”, which is located on the eastern border of Hiroshima Prefecture on the delta of the Ashida River in west central Japan. As the second largest city in the prefecture with 465,000 residents, approximately 0.5 percent of the population may be Christian. After World War II the city was almost completely burned to the ground. A group of local residents were burdened over the unsettled mood of the city. They felt that flowers soothe the heart, so they sprang into action by planting and nurturing one thousand rose seedlings. Pray for dedicated laborers to plant and nurture the seeds of the Gospel and for thousands to accept Jesus, the “Rose of Sharon,” as Savior and Lord.

November 3rd – Yo-san and E-san are the first to become believers in their families. They have recently become engaged to be married in spite of family objections. Pray that their faith will sustain them and that their union will bring both families into the Kingdom.

November 4th – Yu-san and M-san, who are very quiet and shy and never ask questions, meet monthly with Elton and Marylou for Bible study. Pray that the Holy Spirit will fill their minds with compelling questions that will lead them to placing their faith in Him.

November 5th – Amanda has been meeting regularly with S-san for Bible study. She wants to follow Jesus but is fearful of her mother’s reaction. Pray that S-san’s mother will change her attitude toward Christianity and that the desire to be an obedient daughter will not prevent S-san from following Jesus.

November 6th – A volunteer team of bankers from North Carolina will be reaching out with missionaries, November 6-12 in Tokyo. Pray for the meetings, the dinners, the seminars, the casual talk times and the re-connection with those from former visits with Japanese businessmen.

November 7th – Kimberly recently led her friend Sal-san to the Lord. Because of past personal issues, Sal-san is experiencing episodes of depression. As we praise God for our new sister, pray for her walk with Jesus that she can let go of the past and experience peace in her life.

November 8th – Last month, a Deaf Japanese man married a Deaf Chinese lady. They came to the Franklin Graham Festival last month in Osaka. Both believed on Jesus! Ed and Nan counseled them. They do not have a church affiliation. Pray that they will grow in grace and spread the Good News.

November 9th – H san is always the first to line up for the “Sidewalk Chapel” in central Tokyo. It’s not just for the bread distribution that follows the message and small group time, but to clean up the sidewalk so everyone can sit. Last month he finally trusted in Christ as Savior too!

November 10th – Praise God for an introduction from Ka-san to a friend living in Ebina City for Sharon P. Pray for open doors to her relationships and for clear direction from God. Pray for this friend to be a person of peace in this bedroom town of Tokyo.

November 11th – Discipling new believers brings such joy! Watching them open Scripture and read God’s promises for the first time is such an awesome experience. Hearing them pray and talk to God in such a personal way brings heartfelt praise. We are praising God for our new brothers and sisters in Christ. Keep praying!

November 12th – Throughout the summer, volunteers from the states reached out to the lost in the Kobe area. The Kobe team is seeing abundant fruit from their efforts. They have been able to meet many of the contacts more than once and the Gospel has been shared. Pray that they will see the seeds planted come to fruition.

November 13th – In each regional city, town and village there are thousands who need the Lord and have never heard. Today, as you pray for them to come to Christ, pray specifically for the following who have heard the Gospel but have not yet given their hearts to Christ: Mrs. To and her three daughters, Mrs. Mak, Mrs. Na, Ms. Chi, Mrs. Ko, Ka-san, Mr. Mo, Mr. Se, Mr. Shi and Mr. Maru.

November 14th – Praise the Lord for raising up three teams to come to Japan in 2011 to work in the Regional Unengaged Cities. Pray that God will call out teams for the rest of the cities and that the Holy Spirit will begin now to soften the hearts of Japanese to hear the Gospel. Pray for more laborers to bring in the harvest.

November 15th – Nancy and Iku in Fukuoka have had 2 Bible study times in Iku’s home. After the Bible time and lunch, sharing is leading to openness to seeking God’s healing power. Pray for God’s power to be shown in a variety of broken family relationships, so Iku’s family can all receive the love Christ offers.

November 16th – Pray that T-ko’s introduction of a friend will lead to a regular time of getting together for the two ladies in Fukuoka with the Sengmanys, who want to share the Gospel with each of them. Pray for hunger about the truths they read in God’s Word.

November 17th – Taka is a college senior and has found a job. As a believer, he participates weekly in worship and discipleship. Pray that God will give him courage and vision for sharing the Gospel with college friends in Fukuoka before graduation and for becoming a harvest worker as he enters the world of work next spring.

November 18th – Pray for Matt’s friend, Mar, in Hiroshima to experience healing in his spiritual eyes. Ask that God would do what Mar believes to be impossible and that he would have eyes to see the spiritual truths there.

November 19th – God is answering prayers in Takasaki! Jared met M-san on a train. They have talked about life, the Bible and the Gospel was shared. M-San desires to get a Bible to start reading it. N-san, a believer Tara has been discipling, wants to get baptized this month! Pray God continues to show Himself to M-san and grows N-san in her faith.

November 20th – Every Saturday morning, an evangelistic outreach brings around 90 needy and homeless to a large park in central Tokyo. Today is the winter clothing distribution. Though provided last year, with no donations this year to purchase sleeping bags, pray for other provisions to keep them warm.

November 21st – Please pray for Mr. “Fortune Teller” in Utsunomiya who is studying to make a living as such. He was intrigued at the Gospel witness that there is a God who knows us and will Himself reveal the path to a wonderful future with Him. Pray that he will take this witness to heart and find his future in Jesus.

November 22nd – Please pray for R-san, a newly divorced mom and her toddler son, D-kun in Shizuoka City. Her parents have recently relocated and moved in with her to help her raise D-kun. Pray that she would find hope in the truth of the Gospel during this time of great transition.

November 23rd – Two praises! First, Ms. Meg has trusted Jesus as her Savior! Hallelujah! Pray she will follow in believer’s baptism soon. Second, Mrs. A.T. was baptized! Pray she would continue to grow spiritually and practice boldness in witnessing to those around her in Nagoya.

November 24th – Matt in Hamamatsu recently attended a monthly meeting for fathers at his son’s school. Pray with him that many there would be open to hearing the Gospel and his testimony as they socialize at these meetings. Pray that soon these men would meet to worship Christ as Lord!

November 25th – Lori in Nagoya has been trying with little avail to meet other moms at her son’s kindergarten. This month she will begin a weekly class for moms and their preschoolers there. Pray that many of these moms would be interested in knowing more about Christ and His love for them.

November 26th – In May you prayed for those with emotional struggles in Kyoto. God has answered by bringing three people who are willing to meet for Bible study – a believer and two who have said that they want to believe. Pray for understanding of the Word, healing and hope.

November 27th – While Tim was visiting Japan recently, he saw the yellow grid guides for blind people everywhere. Please pray that the Nikkei (second generation Japanese) in Peru and all Japanese would be able to see God’s love breaking through in the midst of their busy and solitary lifestyles.

November 28th – Previously you prayed for contact to be made with a family who “fell through the cracks” during follow up. Contact has been made and Jun, his wife and young daughter can now hear the Gospel. Pray for this family to become believers and lead other young families to Jesus. Both the mother and father attended a Christian university.

November 29th – A young Japanese lady has voiced that she wants to become a believer in Jesus and believes she will then be “successful” in her business. Pray for Mi to know that true success in life is knowing Jesus Christ and walking with Him daily. Pray that she will see that success in God’s eyes differs from the success of the world.

November 30th – Thank you for praying for the Franklin Graham Festival held in Osaka in October. Total attendance was 30,782 with 1,765 giving their hearts to Jesus! Pray that local churches will be faithful in following-up with those who’ve made decisions and that new Christians will connect with other believers to grow in their faith! Praise God for a great harvest of souls in Japan!

Sapporo, Okayama/Kurashiki, Niigata, Shizuoka, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Matsuyama, Oita, Fukuyama, Kanazawa, Nagasaki, Yokosuka and Toyama… Do any of these cities ring a bell for you? We have another language evaluation on Friday afternoon (Thursday
late night USA time). Would greatly appreciate your prayers! Pray
that we’ll be relaxed and are in one of those “chatting in Japanese”
moods, not a “Japanese eats my lunch” moods. Thanks!

March 2010 Update April 15, 2010

Filed under: Ministry — japaneseparsley @ 10:30 pm

I have a suspicion that the prayer letter that we attempted to send a couple of weeks ago never made it to you. I wish I could say it was computer error, but human error is more likely. :(

Be sure and scroll down to see Michaela teach you "how to eat sushi!" Ok, I know most of you will scroll down first. Just don’t forget to come back and read the prayer update!

Current prayer needs:

- Our family has been plagued with colds, bronchitis, ear infections, pink eye, sinus infections…you name it. We think we are nearing the end. Please pray that we can stay healthy for a while!
- We are doing much better on the health front. The purchase of Kleenex has slowed quite considerably.

- Jacob graduated from Japanese kindergarten! Yeah! We’re so proud of him. Thank you for your prayers for the kiddos. They’re doing great. Jacob starts 1st grade and Michaela starts kindergarten next week! Big adjustments and transitions coming once again!
- Michaela has completed 5 days of kindergarten and Jacob 3 days of elementary school. They are doing well. Michaela came home singing a Japanese song the first day! Jacob got a round of applause for saying something in Japanese in front of the class. Please continue to pray for their transition and that they would make many friends.

- Matt’s language assistant is preparing to move to Brazil so Matt was in need of a new helper. God quickly provided! Matt met a young man from a local church who was interested in the job. He’ll be starting this week or next!
- Matt and Shi-san have met twice and it’s going very well.

- We’ve invited a neighbor family over for Easter Sunday. Pray that we can clearly share the gospel through the Easter story and continue to develop this friendship. They are the Taka family.
- The Taka family witnessed egg hunting for the first time and had a blast. More importantly, they heard the gospel message for the first time. We had a great day together. Please ask the Lord for this family to come to understand and believe His message for them.

- We’re searching for people whom we can dialogue with in Japanese on a regular basis. This is going to be crucial for our language progress. Please pray that we will put forth the effort needed and find the right people whom we can talk with. Pray that we will make good progress over this next month before our 2nd language evaluation.
- Need much prayer. :)

Thank you!
Love, The Parsleys
