Also while in New Mexico for Christmas Break, we took Jacob to Carlsbad Caverns and he absolutely loved it. … in fact he loved it so much he begged and begged to go back – forgetting about the 8 hour drive to get there. Boy, we were once again surprised by our God we saw on the map that we will have our own caverns in the Japanese town we are moving to. cool huh!
Jacob’s Story Book Parade October 28, 2008
Jacob’s class dressed up like the characters in “The Napping House”, and he got to be the FLEA who bit everyone. There were lots of cute costumes! Click on “View all Images”, to see images up close.
What Does a Rock, a Peanut, and 4 Hours Have in Common??? September 18, 2008
Wednesday Sept. 18th will go down as one of those really CRAZY days!
Oh… thank goodness for insurance!!!
1:30 p.m. – Jacob got distracted during Language Arts by a little pebble from the playground, began to play with it… and it ended up in his ear. Crazy!
2:00 p.m. – We go to the pediatrician and the nurse uses a water pick to flush it out.
3:15 p.m. – We arrive back home. That was not so bad! and relatively quick
5:45 p.m. - We’re eating dinner. Michaela points to her nose and says, “Uh oh. Peanut in my nose”. I thought she HAD to be kidding. but she wasn’t.
6:00 p.m. – The whole neighborhood is involved with trying to remove Michaela’s peanut. But no such luck
7:00 p.m. – We go to our pediatrician’s night clinic and wait 2 hours… but it was really stuck and they couldn’t get it out.
10:00 a.m. the next morning – We go to an ENT who strapped her down and removed the peanut.
The song, “Found a Peanut” has a whole new meaning for our family!
Jacob’s Broken Arm March 11, 2008
Howdy y’all! (I’ve really been in Texas too long. LOL)
Please be in prayer for Jacob. He broke his arm at his right elbow last Sunday (3/2) playing at the Hulen Mall playground. He is in a full cast for at least 3 weeks and has check-up appointment with the pediatric orthopedic specialist the Tuesday after Easter (3/25). He started moving his fingers again on Saturday, so I know he’s feeling better and not in pain.
The Pastor and the Princess March 11, 2008
Jacob got some new ties… and of course if you wear a tie, that automatically means you’re a pastor, right??? He made a stage and signs with arrows leading to my bedroom so he could invite the neighborhood kids over to hear him preach. Then he asked while eating breakfast, “What do Pastors eat?” LOL
We got Michaela a Princess jewlery set. We knew she would like it, but we had NO idea she would like it this much!
Soccer Soccer Soccer March 10, 2008
Well, we wanted to let Jacob play at least one sport while we are here in the States. And Jacob picked Soccer. So we are doing YMCA Soccer. Not only do I drive a minvan, but I have the credentials to do so now: I am a Soccer Mom… just what every mom dreams of! LOL And since his team was w/out a coach, we also have “Coach Matt” in our family and he’s enjoying himself!
However, he has found that his back REALLY hurts after bending down to the level of 3 and 4 year olds for an extended period of time. Here’s pictures from Jacob’s first game!! He was really proud of himself b/c he “won 4 times” (4 goals) his first game. Please pray for him… he broke his arm last Sunday (3/2), but he still get’s to play. I’ll post pictures of that soon.
About our City February 19, 2008
Japanese Lesson – Pronunciation of “Hamamatsu”:
“Hama” (rhymes with the way a baby says “mama”) + another “ma” (pronounced the same as “hama) + “tsu” (which sounds a bit like a polite little sneeze.) = Hama-matsu.
Background:
Check out the city’s English page: http://www.city.hamamatsu.shizuoka.jp/foreign/english/index.htm for lots of information. We are pretty excited about the more laid back atmosphere, the lakes, rivers, mountains, views of Mt. Fuji, and the beaches and ocean. Now, this will be a big change for us – because, you see, there will be 33,000,000 (33 million) FEWER people in Hamamatsu than in our previous assignment of Greater Tokyo.
